Chris Pye offers a practice framework that draws on an eclectic range of influences. Solution-Focused and Narrative Therapies, Neuroscience, Socratic dialogue, Aboriginal Spirituality and his own relationship with the natural world all inform his approach to coaching.
His ‘Reconnection’ sessions will help you confront unhelpful thought patterns, dominant narratives and rigid belief systems, freeing yourself to identify the things that are most important to you today, towards the life that best expresses the person you want to be in the world.
Research tells us what Indigenous Peoples the world over have known for thousands of years – that physical activity and connection to our natural surrounds are essential for sustained healthy lives. These experiences promote the release of chemicals into our brains, such as Dopamine, Endocannabinoids, Serotonin and Endorphions, which interact with neuron receptors, to reduce stress and anxiety, boost feelings of wellbeing and promote motivation, memory integration and healthy sleep.
At A Single Step, coaching sessions are often held in natural settings, combined with a walk (or run for those inclined) to help turn ideas into action. Alternative arrangements are made available for people with disability or limited mobility, to offer the benefits of connection with the natural environment, in a static location.

Chris will come to you – within the Brisbane region – or host you at his local ‘Kagar Maabul’ (Mount Gravatt), an ancient echidna hunting ground of winding trails, offering varying levels of physical challenge. The coaching process is tailored to individual need and desire, and may include supporting you to:
